Comic Books: The Guild Issues 1-3 by Felicia Day

First off, if you’ve never watched The Guild, your mission is to do so right after you finish reading/watching my review.  It’s on Watch The Guild and/or on Netflix Instant.

Basically, this comic book series (prequel to the webseries) follows Cyd Sherman as we find out how she started playing The Game and joined the guild (Knights of Good). The format is basically the same, but we get to see more of the game.  We see Cyd/Codex vlogging, going through crazy drama with her rockstar boyfriend, and being quite socially awkward.

The story is written by Felicia Day, creator and writer of The Guild (webseries), so it has an authentic feel to the show. Same great jokes and I could imagine this as an episode.  So so great!

I thought it was fun to see how she went from being used by her stupid boyfriend for her amazing musical genius to meeting Vork, Zaboo, Tink, Bladezz and Clara.  There was also a character who was friends with Bladezz, but he disappears pretty quickly.

It is illustrated by Jim Rugg and I think he did a good job with making the characters look similar to the actors.

Overall, a great comic book series so far!  Highly entertaining, and I can’t wait to read the next three.
