Elizziebooks Review of Beautiful Creatures
So, this book. This book is HUGE. A whopping 523 pages, according to Goodreads. The writer did a pretty awesome job at boiling that down to a 2 hour and 4 minutes movie, honestly. As the audience, we get a decent feel for the town and Ethan’s narrative as well as Lena’s plight as a Caster just days away from being claimed.
The acting in this movie is stellar. With a cast like this, what can go wrong? I am from the south so I was very aware of the accents being more toward the Louisianna side rather than South Carolina, where the fictional town of Gatlin is located. That aside, amazing cast. Especially Alden and Emmy who both freaking blew my MIND. Viola is always awesome. Always.
The romance was just what it needed to be.
I kind of wished there was more time with Link and Ethan. We see a snippet of their friendship when Ethan walks to his house before school one morning. Also, Ethan-hating Emily is more like Ethan-WHY-DO-YOU-NOT-LIKE-ME Emily. Weh.
The effects were A+. Especially in the library. That part. Yes. Loved.
Overall, it’s a good movie. I left wanting to re-read the book, which I think is a great feeling to leave with. I kind of hope viewers see this movie as a teaser to the series and that they rush to their local independent book sellers for their own copies of the series! Okay, but really, it will leave you wanting more of that world and the characters.
I would definitely rewatch this if/when I have the chance. Honestly. Yes. Please. More Ethan.

I really enjoyed this book and the movie looks GREAT. The trailers have gotten me really excited to go see it. Loved your review. Thanks for the giveaway!
Oops- forgot to say why I wanted to win the book. I would love to win this because I love the series but don’t own my own copies since I borrowed them all from the library (student budget= not a ton of room for books, unfortunately!). Thanks again!
Ooh, that’s a great reason!
I took the test and it told me I was light. I can’t wait to see the movie this weekend.

Hey Elizziebooks! I just stumbled upon your channel today, and watched a lot of your videos and read some of your blog entries. I am a huge fan now!
I loved your review of beautiful creatures, and it got be really intrigued. I’ve seen you and other booktubers rave about this series, but I never really wanted to go pick it up. So it would be awesome to win your giveaway and I could read the book and jump on this bandwagon. Oh, and I guess I’m a light castor, or is there a different word for the males? Idk, I don’t know anything about the book.
Anyways, thanks for the giveaway, I have my fingers crossed to win!
I am light (claimed as a seer).
Haven’t read the books yet and I really want to. I’m torn if I want to see if in theaters (and read the book later) or wait until the DVD (and read the book first). Did you think it was a “must see on big screen” type movie? Decisions…
Well, the movie isn’t totally special effects driven, so I would say that it’s not totally necessary to see on the big screen, but you won’t want to miss all the awesome lines from Ethan! He’s my favorite.
I haven’t had a chance to read the book yet. Thanks for the giveaway!
I would assume I’m light?
I cannot wait to see this movie! I have only read book one but loved it.

I had yet to read this book, but I think that I would be light — or I hope so at any rate.
Thanks for the giveaway!
I’m really curious about the movie but haven’t read the books yet (and wanted to do before seeing the movie). I’m still curious about the movie nonetheless and your review was awesome. Thanks for the giveaway
Beautiful Creatures is one of my favourite books EVER! I can’t wait to watch the movie! It’s got a great cast (Emmy Rossum! Viola Davis! Emma Thompson! Awesome!), so I’m really looking forward to see how they portray these characters that I love.
Thank you so much for this giveaway
Oh, I forgot this was US only! Ugh, I’m so sorry! I have like 3 entries and I don’t know how to get them back :/ Again, I’m so sorry! I should have payed more attention before I got all excited.
Anyway, great review!
Thanks for commenting anyway! <3
I think I’m light…? But anyway this is a great giveaway and I would love to win this book!
I really liked the book! my mom got it on audio when we were driving to visit my younger brother at college over christmas. Im flying out on her birthday to see the movie with her, im glad you think it lives up to the book

Hi Elizzie! Don’t know if I spelled that right but I loved BC soooo much I couldn’t put it down and I persuaded to of my friends to read it and they love it! I’m soooooo excited to see the movie. Thanks for doing this giveaway hope I win I have never had anything signed before!
Great review can’t wait to go and see it
Light! Thank you for the giveaway!
I would probably be Light.
I so want to see this movie, and though I have the book already, I want to get it so my sis can have it. She wants it and i refuse to give her my copy (yes I’m selfish, so what). Anywho I think she would absolutely love to get this.
Oh, and by the way. I’m dark. Definitely dark (but only on the inside *wink*)

I hope I am Light! But everyone has a dark side! Hey, that’s a song by Kelly Clarkson. “Dark Side.”
Definitely light.. but dark would be fun. Haven’t read the book, but I’m hoping to see the movie soon. I’d love to win the book!
Definitely light! Thanks for hosting this giveaway, by the way
definitely light : )
I like how your using the same think as Kaleb for the giveaway. I don’t really know what else to leave in this comment, so I’ll leave it at that.
I didn’t see what I was supposed comment until I actually clicked on the thingy, so here it is : I am definitely a light.
Loved your movie review! I loved the movie! I agree with what you said about a lot of my favorite parts were taken out, but it was still a good movie. Also- I am a Light Caster
Dark!!

I can’t wait to see the movie as well

I guess Dark. I’ve never read this book, but I always love to go with the side that’s misunderstood.
I haven’t read the book or seen the movie yet – but I am dying to do both!!!
I’m kinda guessing that being claimed for the Light would be a good thing, but after the trailer and watching Riley, maybe being Dark would be SO much fun-ner, lol!

I’d definitely want to be light….. and dark. I mean how awesome would that be. But in all seriousness, if I had to choose just one… Light.
I thought both the movie and book were spectacular on their one levels. It’s quite exhausting trying hard not to be a book snob and complaining about all the parts they left out or changed, all my favorite aspects of the story!! I just can’t help but be in love with the movie, it was well done overall.
I haven’t read the book yet but I really want to, especially after watching your review. Hopefully I can soon! Thank you for hosting the giveaway.
I’m light, most probably. And I didn’t know that this movie was based on a book until I paid attention to the trailer, but the movie looks really excellent, and I’m very excited to read the series.
light
I’m really looking forward to seeing the movie but first I must read the book after hearing your review! I think i’ll end up on the dark side!XP
Just discovered your Youtube vids today, through Kaleb and the Harken interview… I was really glad to get an opinion on the BC movie that wasn’t so doom and gloom! I haven’t seen it yet, but definitely excited to, especially ’cause I love Emmy Rossum. Alden is not visually how I pictured Ethan, but now you’ve got me all excited to see him pull of this character.
Also, as a fellow Georgian, can I just say THANK YOU for what you said about the accents! That’s exactly what I’ve been saying, and I’ve gotten chewed out by other “southerners” …We don’t all sound like Forest Gump, people! Oh Hollywood….whatever… LOL Anyways, just had to comment on that.
Emmy and Alden are my faves. Alden is SO SO SO MUCH ETHAN. WOO WOO GA FTW! yes, we don’t all sound like we’re from the deep woods!
Can’t wait to see the movie!
(And I think I am light. I would have killed everybody without no remorse!
)
I’m light but thinking being dark would be so much more fun! Thanks!
I think I’m light but being dark has its advantages!

Love the movie that I saw it twice back to back.
Love the movie I watch it twice back to back.
Also; I love your vlog.
I LOVE this book, and the movie was AMAZING!!! AH! I can’t even! It was just so amazing! Ridley was perfect.. Lena.. Amazing. Ethan was awesome. Seriously, there wasn’t one person who didn’t do a good job in that movie. It was perfect. “Our words, our language, can’t explain all that there is.”- Amma.. Well it definitely can’t explain how amazing this movie was.. amazing.. all I can say.
I haven’t read the series yet…it’s on my to-read shelf on goodreads. I’ve heard great stuff about it. I plan on seeing the movie tomorrow. It looks awesome.
Just did a quiz online…I’m apparantly dark. It’s a fair assessment. With my luck, that’s how things would probably turn out.
totally light!
I love the movie cover.
I would like to say I’m light… but maybe I’m light and dark.. kinda like Lena I guess (: She can kinda be whomever she wants to because of that.
I would be claimed for the light! It was such a great experience meeting the authors, Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl. My daughter and I absolutely loved the books, and, now, the movie. I thought the movie was well done. To me, it absolutely captured the essence of what the book is about. I would definitely watch it again and again!!!

This is the…
Both.. Like the light as like the dark…
I love the fact that you really liked the book and the movie separately because I had seen several videos about people who did not like the movie but I though that it was close enough to the book that people who had read it would enjoy it and those who hadn’t could follow the story easily! loved the review!!
THIIIIS. Margaret Stohl explained at Decatur Book Festival that she views the movie as being kind of an alternate universe version of BC. It’s a lot alike, but you can’t compare it to the book TOO much or you’ll hate everything.
If i had to choose wiether to be light or dark… I think ill claim myself as lena did:)
Light!
